POLYCARPE

Jordi

Jordi Polycarpe is an indie RnB singer-songwriter and producer based in NYC. The 24-year-old’s lush, cinematic soundscapes and visuals dripping in antiquity empower listeners to fall into and follow their feelings. Polycarpe has spent her life and career navigating the Big Three: Love, Femininity, and Belonging, which have not come easy as a plus sized, Caribbean-American woman. Embracing messy, shameless adoration, the young artist has entered a new era of ethereal, womanly confidence as heard on her most recent single J’ADORE. Believing that unconventional women deserve to be yearned for, Jordi Polycarpe is your soft-bodied, Renaissance-painting muse, having been featured in: Miami Hurricane, VoyageMIA, Gravity Magazine, Guitar Girl Mag, nominated for a collegiate level NAACP Artist of the Year award, and a recipient of the Bruce Hornsby scholarship.

Born and raised in a suburb of Queens to a middle class, catholic Haitian family, Polycarpe found music in big family barbecues and her sister’s Y2K-era iPod. Stranded in her teens, she started playing guitar and songwriting in an attempt to make sense of the culture shock she experienced at her all-girls private school in Manhattan, and the concrete sidewalks of the Upper East Side quickly became her stomping grounds. After studying the works of Timbaland and Salaam Remi, Polycarpe began producing music on GarageBand during her commute to and from school which led to the release of her first EP Sharks and Minnows during her senior year, and her acceptance to the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. In the past two years, Jordi has played iconic NYC venues such as The Delancey, Bowery Electric, S.O.B.s, Berlin Under A, and Rockwood Music Hall. With her upcoming projects, Jordi creates a rich, intimate space where grace and chaos coalesce.
